- In 2023, more than 1,800 universities announced a test-optional policy for submitting SAT/ACT scores; however, over 1.9 million students still took the SAT that same year.
- Some schools, such as MIT, Georgetown, Purdue, Georgia, and West Point, still require the SAT.
- The California university system, Pitzer College, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Reed College do not consider SAT/ACT scores.
- The SAT will be entirely digital starting in 2024.
